What is the difference between a warming oil and a stimulation oil?

A warming oil creates a pleasant tingle on the skin and grows warmer when you breathe on it – it is made for massaging the whole body. A stimulation oil works more strongly and is intended for sensitive spots; one drop is enough. If you are trying either for the first time, test a small amount in the crook of your elbow first.

Can massage oil go inside the vagina?

No, these oils are not made for that – and oil-based products destroy latex condoms as well. For anything internal you want a lubricant, ideally a water-based one. Massage oils stay on the outside. More on choosing one in our lubricant guide.

Are the products really edible?

The body paint and the body glaze are made for licking off and formulated to be food-safe, but they are not food: they do not belong in your stomach in any quantity. With the flavoured oils it is the other way round – those are made for the skin, not for tasting. What goes where is stated on the packaging.

Are the gels compatible with toys?

The eight water-based ones with everything – silicone, glass, metal, condoms. The two silicone gels last longer but attack silicone toys; with glass and metal they work without any problem. Oils are not compatible with latex.

What should you watch out for with scent and skin?

Flavoured products contain fragrances and aroma compounds that can irritate sensitive skin. Test a small amount in the crook of your elbow and wait a few hours before applying it over a larger area. Oil comes off with warm water and soap; from textiles it is best treated with detergent at a normal temperature.

Which size for trying out?

The 10 and 35 ml formats. With scent and effect, taste is very personal – for a few millilitres you find out whether a variety suits you without leaving a 100 ml bottle behind. If it does, almost everything is available in the large bottle too.
