💧 ID – thirteen lines, and the base is what decides

ID is a pure lubricant brand: 64 of the 66 items are lubricants. What makes it unusual is not the quantity but the split into thirteen distinct lines – each for a different situation, each in several sizes. The range runs from a 4 ml sachet to a 1900 ml bottle.

The distinction that matters is the base, not the name. It determines what you may combine the gel with:

💦 Water-based

• Glide – the classic, in 130 ml and eight further sizes, from a sample to the 1900 ml bottle
• Free – hypoallergenic, the line for sensitive skin, in 30 to 255 ml
• Jelly – set extra thick, it dries more slowly and stays where you put it
• Xtreme – heavier than Glide, in 30 to 250 ml
• Pleasure with a tingling effect and Sensation with a warming one, each in four to six sizes

🍓 Flavoured

Two flavour lines, both water-based: Frutopia with six varieties – banana, cherry, mango, raspberry, strawberry and watermelon, each in 30 and 100 ml, naturally sweetened and sugar-free – plus 3Some with four varieties in 118 ml. If you want to try first, take one of the five-packs at 12 ml each.

🧴 Silicone-based

• Millennium – the longest-lasting in the range, in 30 to 500 ml
• Velvet – meant as a body glide for the whole skin, fragrance-free, in 50, 125 and 200 ml
• Backslide – the anal formula, a thicker concentrate, also available as an 8 ml insert tube that goes in directly

Between the two sits Silk, a hybrid of water and silicone: it glides longer than a pure water gel and washes off more easily than pure silicone.

⚠️ The one rule that counts

Water-based gels are compatible with everything – condoms and toys in any material. Silicone-based gels glide far longer and are waterproof, but they do not belong on silicone toys: they attack the surface and leave it permanently dull. Both are condom-safe.

❓ Frequently asked questions

What size should I buy?

30 to 65 ml to start with – that lasts several weeks and does not tie you to a line that may not suit you. Only once you know which gel you actually reach for is 250 ml or more worth it. An opened bottle should be used within a few months.

What does hypoallergenic mean on a lubricant?

The formula leaves out the most common irritants – with ID Free, among others, fragrances and flavourings. If you regularly notice burning or itching after sex, that is the line to start with.

Why an extra-thick gel?

A thick gel like ID Jelly stays where you apply it instead of running, and it dries more slowly. That makes it the more practical choice for anal sex and long sessions. For vaginal sex some people find it too heavy.

What makes the anal formula different?

ID Backslide is silicone-based and set considerably thicker than the water gels; being concentrated, you need less of it. The 8 ml insert tube delivers the gel where a finger struggles to spread it. Bear in mind: silicone and silicone toys do not mix.

Warming or tingling – what is actually happening?

Both gels contain actives that stimulate circulation and produce a warming or tingling sensation. How strongly it lands varies a great deal. Apply a single drop to a small area first and wait a minute – on mucous membrane the reaction is often much stronger than on your hand.
