Is 160 ml enough?

For a short rinse, yes. For thorough preparation you have to refill two or three times; anyone who rinses thoroughly on a regular basis is better served by the enema bulb from the same range that holds more than twice as much.

How do you go about it safely?

Fill the bulb with lukewarm, clear water and check the temperature on your wrist first; inside the bowel you only notice heat when it is too late. How is it cleaned?
