The men's brief by BURN has a skimpy cut and sits low on the hips. It sits close, and all the comfort hangs on that: the pouch at the front has to hold without constricting, and the waistband has to sit without cutting in. Neither shows when you try it on, only after two hours of sitting; that is the test no mirror replaces. This version is green with white binding at the leg openings, and the fabric has a fine diamond texture. It sits under lingerie, under sex toys for men and in our bottoms up section.

How is the brief cut?

As a classic brief, not a thong: at the back it is fully cut and covers the buttocks, only a narrow strip remains at the sides, and the leg openings are cut high.

How is the pouch made?

It is set in as a separate panel: a seam below the waistband, two side seams and a centre seam give it its shape. That way it leaves room at the front instead of lying flat.

Which size fits?

Your usual size; the brief comes in S, M, L and XL. One size down does not look tauter but leaves grooves.

What is the fabric made of?

80% polyester and 20% elastane. The elastane provides the stretch; the polyester hardly creases and dries quickly after washing.

How is it washed?

At thirty degrees without fabric softener, then dried flat. Softener and the heat of a tumble dryer take the tension out of the elastane, and without tension the brief is just fabric. Wash it separately from other colours the first few times.

How do you put it on properly?

Pull it all the way up, then arrange everything in the pouch forwards and upwards so the centre seam sits in the middle. If something sits crooked, adjust it at the sides of the waistband rather than by pulling on the pouch.

How do you store it?

Folded flat or rolled in the drawer, away from items with hooks or hook-and-loop fasteners that can pull threads out of the fabric.
