What do you need them for?

For the moment a knot does not come undone quickly enough. When hands tingle or go numb or someone panics, every second counts; then you cut through the restraint instead of pulling at the knot. So have them ready before the first restraint is in place.

Do they cut every material?

That depends on the material, and there is no guarantee. Try them on an offcut of your rope, strap or tape before the first session so you know how easily they get through. Thick leather straps, chains and locks are not a job for scissors; for those you need keys or quick-release fastenings.

How do you apply them?

With the lower blade flat against the skin. Slide it between skin and restraint so the cutting edge works away from the body, and cut in calm strokes. Do not turn the tip into the skin, even when things have to happen fast.

How do you look after them?

Wipe them after use and store them dry. Glue residue from tape comes off with a little warm soapy water. Keep them in a fixed place with your restraints so they are at hand straight away next time.
