All the usual ones: silicone, glass, stainless steel, TPE and hard plastic. With toys that contain electronics, make sure the charging socket stays dry. For leather and fabric, reach for a care product made for that material instead.

Would soap not do?

On smooth surfaces often yes. A toy cleaner is formulated to leave no residue, and residue is exactly what tends to sit in grooves with soap. With porous materials such as TPE that makes the bigger difference.

How long does it need to act?

About a minute is enough. Longer does no harm but adds nothing, as the effect starts immediately. What matters more than the time is that the product reaches everywhere.

Do I have to rinse afterwards?

Yes, with clear water. Cleaner residue does not belong on skin, even when the product itself is mild. Dry it afterwards and leave it out until nothing is damp any more.
