What does TPE mean on a doll?
TPE is a soft thermoplastic elastomer. It feels skin-like and gives under pressure – which is why it is used for dolls. The drawback: TPE is not non-porous and cannot be made germ-free. When it is shared, a condom belongs with it. More in the article sex toy materials compared.
How much space does a doll need?
More than you plan for before buying. A doll at 160 cm needs the length of a bed lying down and a stand upright – a wardrobe rarely does it. For storage the rule is: flat, no bend at hip and knee, no lasting pressure on a single spot, or the TPE deforms permanently.
Which lubricant fits?
Water-based only. Silicone-based gel attacks TPE and makes the surface sticky over time – on a doll in this price range that is an expensive mistake. See water-based lubricant.
What is in the product data?
All four list TPE as the material. Three dolls have a body height on file; on the fourth, instead of a body height, the data sheet holds a measurement of 18 x 3.8 cm – which fits no doll. How is it cared for?
Clean with warm water and a mild cleaner after every use, rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely – residual moisture inside is the main problem with TPE.
